What is Developer and what does it do?

Developer is split into two areas; to setup printers, users, passwords and sound exclusions; to setup tables, fields, forms etc. By using OSMOSiS Developer, you can create a Full working system.

The idea of Developer is so that the Developer will never have to go to TCL again, that is why we have tried to include all database functions such as Selects, ListU etc.

One of the objectives of OSMOSiS Developer is to provide functionality within the Gui environment so that the user does not need to revert to TCL (or the command prompt).

Developer consists of the following:

Program Editor
Colour coded basic program editor with linked help built-in. This includes basic, cataloging, jShow plus many more functions. There is functionality to check and correct duplicate catalogued routines.

Processes
Processes include Assignments, Subroutine, Conditional Processes, Defaults, Query, Paragraphs, File Updates and so on.

Table Editor
This is the largest module within Developer, it consists of a list of tables for this particular account. It also includes under each table; records, fields, forms and prints etc.

Automatic Jobs
Setup automatic jobs to execute a sequence of routines with parameters passed to each routine if required.

Transactions
Allows Transaction Processes – single entry with multiple file updates, all parameterised.

Background Parameters
Allows updates of transactions to be made in a background process.

Display Parameters
Maintenance and multi-file/screen enquiry functions are created with this utility.

Print Parameters
Allows you to design free-format reports and documents.

Translation Tables
Allows you to create tables for translating codes to descriptions.

Generated Numbers
Computer generated number maintenance – unlimited numbering sequence includes numeric, alphabetic, date and time sequence.

Terminal Definitions
Sets the printer and terminal escape sequences to be used by OSMOSiS-Shell (Terminal Enumerator) and prints/reports.

Menu Editor
Edit the menu hierarchy - add/remove/amend folders and items.

File Editor
With a multi-value editor in mind, this editor allows you to view by attribute mark, value mark and sub-value mark. No more ED, JED, WED, etc at TCL!

Help Editor
Edit all of the help texts for menu items, help message boxes. This is also where you edit all of your documentation for the run-time system.

File Properties
On any file on the system, you can see the properties of that file. You can view; jStat on a file, the distribution properties, file location and run general tools on the file like resizing data/dict area and also running a jCheck on the file.
